Beta Reading

I have decided to start beta reading. If you would like me to read your book before you publish, feel free to contact me. All of this information can also be found on my page "Beta Reading".

I'm an avid reader, and have been reviewing/blogging for almost a year and a half now. I have recently started beta reading, and would love to work with you! I read a wide variety of genre, but most often read YA/NA. Middle Grade, and Fantasy (all ages) but am willing to read most any genre.

I don't often read romance or contemporary fiction, but am happy to occasionally, so feel free to ask.

I will not read LGBT+ or erotic fiction, but don't mind LGBT+ characters or sex, it just can't be the main focus of the story.

Gore isn't a problem, and I love adult dark fantasy, steampunk horror, and YA/middle grade paranormal horror.

I'll beta read most books for $25, but longer books (like epic fantasy, etc) might be slightly more. I can also take a little less for poetry, short stories, and novella. Just ask.

Turn around is often 1-2 weeks, but might be a little longer on books with over 400+ pages, or during my busy seasons. I also run a blog tour company, so I have to plan around that as well. I read books in first come, first serve order.

You can contact me here, message me, or email me at adventuresthruwonderland@gmail.com

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dear Santa... That's how Tess starts her letter. You don't have to bring me any toys this year. The only thing I want is a real gnome. Full of anticipation, Tess looks forward to the day her new friend arrives: a friend she can take everywhere, and with whom she can share everything. With Grandpa and Grandma's help, she gets everything ready. Grandpa builds little pieces of furniture, Grandma sews a little blanket, and Tess prepares a welcome meal. And then it's finally Christmas Eve ... Will Santa bring a real gnome? A heartwarming picture book with wonderfully funny illustrations.

My Monday #10

It's Monday again! I...think I missed last Monday, oops! But I'm happy to say that in the two weeks since I started, by blog tour company is doing good, and I'm excited for the tours to start! We still need more bloggers, so if you are interested, please feel free to sign up! We'd love to have you! There will be a monthly, or bi-monthly giveaway exclusively for tour hosts, so each tour you sign up for will be another entry!

Last week I had to give up my job with Reading Addiction Book Tours to pursue my dream of starting Bookish Adventures Book Tours (Yeah, I changed the name :P) I enjoyed my time with Cami at RABT, but I needed to do this, and it's been a goal of mine since I started blogging last year.

I will still be active in blog tours from many different companies, so I look forward to finding some new favorite books! Meeting new authors, and finding new books is my favorite part of blog tours, and I'm so happy I am a past of this community!

Today I mailed off my first candle since I reopened Tangent Adventures (yay!) and grabbed a few more books at the library. I wanted to get The Gunslinger by Stephen King, and the comic Monstress, but they were checked out, so I'm putting them on hold. I did get The Wrath & The Dawn, Incarceron, and Nevernight though, so I'm excited to get to those! I have a ton of reviews coming up, so it might be a while, but oh well! haha

How has your week been, anything exciting happen? Feel free to share below! And thanks for reading!

My Enemy, My Heart (The Ashford Chronicles #1)

The sea is Deirdre MacKenzie’s home, and the crew of her father’s Baltimore clipper is the only family she loves. She’s happier wearing breeches and climbing the rigging of the Maid of Alexandria than donning a dress and learning to curtsy. But when the War of 1812 erupts, the ship is captured by a British privateer, leaving her father, the captain, dead. Deirdre watches her crew herded into the hold, destined for the notorious Dartmoor prison in England. Though her fate as a noncombatant is uncertain, she knows she must find a way to free her crew.

Kieran Ashford has caused his family one too many scandals. On his way to exile in America, he is waylaid by the declaration of war and a chance to turn privateer and make his own fortune. But he regrets his actions as soon as the rich prize is secured. Now his best chance at redeeming himself in the eyes of his family is to offer Deirdre the protection of his name in marriage.

But love and loyalty clash as Kieran begins to win Deirdre’s heart despite her plot to betray him. Will Kieran’s plan mend the relationship with his family, and can this fated couple find true love despite the secret lies between them?

Bookish Discoveries #2: Moving to Saturdays!

Name of the meme: Bookish Discovery of this Week
Description:
Every Thursday, we talk about something new that we discovered which is book related. It can be something that is recently created or discovered or it can be something old that you just discovered or you are interested in. It can be a book you just read or added to your tbr. It can also be an author, genre, poem, story, word, character, a new trend etc. Basically anything that is related to books. You can also share some news or talk about something that caught your eye.
You can do this every Thurday or just whenever you want to.
If you’re not a blogger or just don’t want to make a blog post, you can also post on Twitter and Instagram, just use the hashtag #bookishdiscoverythisweek.

Ok so I've been really slacking when it comes to getting new content again these last couple of weeks. Sorry! I'm trying to start posting more tags and memes, but the blog tours are so tempting, I have to stop over-booking myself! XD I really have a hard time saying no to good books, and I'm bad for signing up to review EVERY stinking book that catches my eye! Ugh... Haha, And I'm also sorry that my other 'blog' 'job' etc, is spilling over, but I'm so excited to have found this series, and can't wait to share it with all of you! Also so far, no one's signed up for my tours yet, so if any of them interest you, please sign up, or let me know and I can add you to the mailing list for open tours.  So this is my weekly find, the Four Worlds series! (Oh, and this month is ARCs, next month's reviews will be mostly books I have on tour...I told you I have a problem saying no, lol) If you are interested in any of the tours, but don't want to read the book, spotlight and promo posts are fine, it still gets the word out about new books, and that's the goal! :)

Blog Tour will run from October 23th - November 3!

There's a book description, author bio, excerpts, guest posts, and interviews.
The book is open for review! (I have links to the first two, and book three will be ready in September!)

A DIY media packet and simple HTMLs for Blogger and Wordpress will be provided to everybody.

Posts must be up by 10am EST on your scheduled date and does NOT have to be the top post
(but preferably in the top 4!)

"The characters were well-written and well-developed, the story was clear and enjoyable without being predictable, and there were a couple of evenings I stayed up later than I intended just so I could get to the end of a chapter. If you're a fantasy fan, you're going to LOVE this!" —Amazon review

Fiction-Writing Modes: Eleven essential tools for bringing your story to life Fiction-Writing Modes: Eleven essential tools for bringing your story to life by Mike Klaassen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*I received a copy from the author for review. This in no way affects my review*

Another great read that I plan to keep close by! As I start writing again, I find that there are many things to be learned, and like any art or craft, writing takes practice, but more than that, it helps to have a mentor. So I seek out books like this to help me learn, and to better understand what all goes into writing a book. This book has eleven different aspects of writing fiction that every author should know. From sensation and emotion, to action, description, and narration, to name a few. All these and more are important in all works of fiction. Seeing them broken down and laid out helped me better realized not only that they are all important, but also when and where each should be used.

Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
Princess Oona Talomir enjoys the little things that come with her station: a handmaiden, her lavish bedchamber, and scores of fancy dresses―the duty to win a decades’ long war, not so much.
Oh, did I mention assassins?
Seers foretold the conflict would end by her hand. From the moment she drew her first breath, the neighboring kingdom has been trying to kill her so she could not grow powerful enough to destroy them. The king, fearing for his daughter’s life, has kept her confined to the castle grounds for most of her sixteen years. With the tide of war turning against them, the burden of her crown becomes too much to bear, yet one thing lifts her spirits amid the gloom.
Her servant girl, Kitlyn.
Alas, in a kingdom obsessed with the god of purity, she is terrified to confess her forbidden love. When her father makes a demand she cannot abide―marry a prince to forge a military alliance―Oona panics. He is handsome and honorable, but he’s not Kitlyn. Unable to admit why she cannot obey, Oona does the only thing she can think of, and runs away.
Alone and unprepared in the wilderness, she prays the gods will let Kitlyn find her—before the assassins do.

I've heard about this book lately, and wanted to read it. I first saw it on NetGalley, so when I got the chance to join the blog to I couldn't pass it up! While it's not my favorite, it was a fun read, and a good story. The characters were fun and well written, and the world building was great!

Cover Reveal: The West Woods by Suzy Vadori

Release Blitz: Salt by Pauline Creeden

Title: Salt - a mermaid tale
Author: Pauline Creeden
Genre: YA Fantasy/Myth
Hosted by: Lady Amber's Reviews & PR

Blurb:
Her kind treats her as less-than-human, but she’s always been so much more.

Mermaid life has never been easy for Verona. Her scars give evidence of her abuse. When her day of reckoning arrives, she is determined to endure exile. According to her father’s experience, exile is better than becoming a land-walker and risking her life among the humans.

However, when she saves the life of a drowning human boy, she inadvertently sets off a chain of events which force her to choose a path: stay with the humans she has become attached to or return home to a life of scorn. A savage hunter draws closer, threatening even the humans. Her only hope is to keep everyone safe until the next full moon, but those around her devise their own plans.

In simple language, Pauline Creeden creates worlds that are both familiar and strange, often pulling the veil between dimensions. She becomes the main character in each of her stories, and because she has ADD, she will get bored if she pretends to be one person for too long. Pauline is a horse trainer from Virginia, but writing is her therapy.

Armored Hearts, her joint effort with author Melissa Turner Lee, has been awarded the Crowned Heart for Excellence by InDtale Magazine. It is also the 2013 Book Junkie's Choice Winner in Historical Fiction. Her debut novel, Sanctuary, won 1st Place Christian YA Title 2013 Dante Rosetti Award and 2014 Gold Award for Best YA Horror Novel.
